The responsibilities of this supplier would be wide ranging. It must ensure quality, for example, not just within its own boundaries but for all lower tiers of supply (SQA – supplier quality assurance). For the smoothest transition into manufacture at volume, it is best to configure a drop-ship style system, but how much stock must be kept, trigger points to configure either manufacture or alarms because more is being manufactured than is selling and many other logistics issues must be bottomed out.
